Art Producer / Art Buyer / Artist

Jaki Jo Hannan has been involved in the production of photography and illustration for over 3 years as an advertising agency team assistant then art producer / art buyer at AMV BBDO in London. Here she has produced high quality above and below the line campaigns for Arla, Aviva, Birds Eye, Blackberry, BT, Cancer Research, Clarks, Doritos, East Coast, EDF, Famous Grouse, Heinz, IPA, Pizza Hut, Royal Mail, Sainsbury's, Sainsbury's TU, Starbucks, Tower Hamlets, Walkers and so on. Jaki Jo was awarded a 1st in BA (Hons) Graphic Design New Media Degree at the Epsom campus of The University College of the Creative Arts. Jaki Jo's 'Self Portrait' illustration project won first prize in its category at the 2008 'D&AD Student Awards'. This work was also featured in the 'D&AD New Blood Design 2008' exhibition, was one of 'Creative Review' magzines picks and was part of a presentation she gave at a London 'Pecha Kucha' night. Jaki Jo has been commissioned to do illustration work for the Guardian and many other publications. Jaki Jo continues to be featured in the press, for example in the 2011 'Campaign Emerging Talent Portfolio' the Executive Creative Director of AMV BBDO Paul Brazier recognized Jaki Jo in his agency as not only a producer in the art production department but also as a creative talented illustrator. He is quoted saying:

Emerging Talent Portfolio Campaign Magazine, 2011: Executive Creative Director of AMV BBDO Paul Brazier recognized Jaki Jo in his agency as not only a producer in the Art Production department but also as a creative talented illustrator. He is quoted saying ’Watch out for her!’

Rising Star - Graphics Design Week Magazine, 28th October 2010: On the 28th of October Jaki Jo was nominated by D&AD as a Rising Star in Design Week Magazine as an up and coming graphic artist. Lauren Woodroffe the director of eduction and professional development at D&AD was quoted in the article ’Just over two years ago a D&AD Student Awards jury was blown away by Jaki Jo Hannan’s intellect, shockingly perverse mind and wonderful use of colour. Two months later she blew away another crowd of people at the New Blood Pecha Kucha, her performance adding the qualities “charismatic”, “extrovert” and “hilariously funny” to the list of her attributes. There is no way that someone of her personality, confidence, charm and downright talent isn’t going to go far.’

Doodle Zone Design Week Magazine, January 13th 2011: In this weeks Design Week Magazine Jaki Jo features in the doodle zone article by Yolanda Zappaterra. The articles discusses the usefulness of hand drawing and the role it plays in modern illustration. Jaki Jo aggress that pencil drawing is still a necessity in her illustrating, ‘I find drawing really important for my process. I’m always scribbling down ideas, mind-maps and quirky drawings. For me, it’s a process of visual research that leads to my illustrations.’
